Building A Personal Brand. Key things to consider...
Everyone has a personal brand, it is important to take control of your personal brand be in charge of how people perceive you.
Happy Monday Everyone!
This week, I want to touch on building a personal brand. Everyone has a personal brand, a personal brand is your reputation and what you're known for. It’s always best to take control of your personal brand and be in charge of how people perceive you.
You don’t have to be an influencer to have a personal brand. A personal brand is what you're known for and what you stand for. For example, I am building a personal brand around entrepreneurship, marketing, adding value, and creating impact.
To build a personal brand you have to be extremely clear with your values, your area of expertise, unique strengths and talents.
A personal brand is extremely important as it differentiates you from the crowd. It opens you up to opportunities in your business, career, or both. People buy into people, they want to work with people they like or do business with people they like. Having a likable personal brand will take you very far in finding your tribe. Your tribe is your community, a group of people who connect with you based on common interests, and behaviours.
Key things to consider when building your personal brand:
Your unique gifts
Top talents
Personal strengths
What you do better than anyone else
What your target audience needs and wants
Key questions to ask yourself when building your personal brand:
What do I stand for, what do I best?
What story do you tell that others would want to share?
What’s marketable about you?
What do you solve for your audience? How do you serve them? What problem are you taking away from them? Is it entertainment, escapism, or productivity?
What is the best way to communicate your brand?
Key tips to build a good personal brand:
Be genuine and authentic. Do the groundwork before becoming an expert in the field. Being genuine when building a personal brand will allow people to buy into you more
I’ve found that building a personal brand should come naturally to you, let people buy into you for who you are and what you stand for. This will save you from being called out as a fraud in the future, when you’re walking in your truth and building a personal brand around that it's the best way for people to connect with you
Make sure that you’re more focused on results and showing your value, let your results speak. It’s more important to be successful than look successful
Be consistent with your brand and the topics you create content around, it will make it much easier for people to recognise you as a trusted voice in a certain field or topic. Also, be consistent in the sense that you are living in your brand online and offline
Consider building a personal brand that is centered around creating a positive impact, value, and solving problems for your community
Understand that building a personal brand is long term, your personal brand is built over time by all the relationships made, results delivered, expectations met and messages communicated
Personal brands are not built overnight but they can definitely be destroyed overnight
Closing note
As mentioned in the beginning it is important to take control of your personal brand and be genuine, live and breathe it through and through whilst having fun with it. A personal brand shouldn’t stop you from living your life, it should be centred around you living your life!
“Personal branding is the story people tell about you when you’re not in the room.” Jessie Matlin.
I hope this helps, as always feel free to send me an email with any questions you may have. Have a great week people and stay safe.
