Don't give up at half time, we've still got the second half!
We are now in the second half of 2022, this is the perfect time to review your progress toward your goals and refine your plan. I've put together some questions to help you with your mid year review..
Happy new week,
We are now halfway through 2022. I know, time is flying by. Frequent check-ins with yourself are very important and the second half of the year is a great time to have a personal development review. A mid-year review provides the opportunity to review and evaluate your progress towards your goals.
A mid-year review allows you to see if your actions are moving you towards your goals, if you’re progressing at the right pace, or if your goals are still relevant. An in-depth review makes you more conscious and in control of your life and goals. It also helps you to gain a better understanding of where you are, the challenges you’ve faced, and the learnings you can take from them.
Questions to ask yourself:
What are 5 things I am grateful for these past 6 months? Expressing gratitude helps us to appreciate things more, and focus on what we have rather than what we might be lacking.
What are you proud of? Make a list of all the things you feel proud of, it doesn't have to involve results or things you’ve achieved. A lot has happened in the last 6 months, good and bad, but there are definitely things you should be proud of.
What goals have I accomplished and what goals do I have left to accomplish? If you’ve written down your goals, revisit them and see what you can tick off and what’s left to tick off.
Why have I been able to accomplish some goals and not others? A reason could be some goals take longer than others to accomplish but also some goals may not be that much of a priority or there’s no urgency to achieve them. This question will help you refine your goals for the rest of the year,
Are my remaining goals still relevant? You have to ask yourself if a particular goal is still aligned with you and your long-term plans. Life happens and what we thought we wanted at the start of the year may not be the case anymore. Don’t continue to work toward goals that no longer serve you or your bigger picture.
How can I ensure I accomplish the other goals I set out? You might have made a plan at the beginning of the year on how you’ll achieve your goals, revisit that plan and see if there are any adjustments you need to make to make sure you end the year achieving that goal.
What challenges have I faced? What can I learn from these challenges? It is rare to achieve anything without some sort of challenge in the way, these challenges present opportunities to learn. Use these lessons to create a plan that will ensure you don’t fall short of your expectations at the end of the year.
Overall, what do I want my next 6 months of life to look like? You have to visualise what you want the next 6 months to look like and then do everything you need to do to make that vision a reality.
Asking yourself these questions will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed or like you haven’t made the most out of your year when the year ends.
A lot can happen in 6 months, you might or might not have done much this last 6 months but you have a great opportunity to do so in the next 6 months. With a clear plan, consistency, and self-discipline, you’ll be surprised by how much you’re able to achieve. I’ll end this with a quote by Bear Bryant “Don’t give up at halftime. Concentrate on winning the second half.”
If you’re still struggling with maximising your productivity and tracking your progress, I suggest getting yourself a Hustle Smart productivity planner.
