Happy New Week,
It’s that time of year again. I don’t know how it’s come around this quickly but it’s Christmas this Sunday! Christmas is one of the most important seasons for businesses, it’s a great time to engage and connect with your audience and generate lots of sales. Marketing during the Christmas period should be something you already have in the works but if you don’t this newsletter should give you a few ideas.
Christmas season campaigns usually start in November. It’s important for brands to celebrate these holidays too because it’s synonymous with happiness, friendship, and joy. Christmas is a special time when people create memories with their loved ones and express their love through gifts. So when people see it reflected in the products they buy, this emotion expands. There are a few brands that you can always count on to share the Christmas spirit, brands such as John Lewis, Coke, Starbucks, McDonald’s, etc.
My favourite Christmas ad this year has to be Asda’s ‘Have your Elf a Merry Christmas’. They went big and super creative this year, they got the one and only Buddy the Elf to feature. At first, I thought Will Farrell was actually in Asda but it’s actually just a really good editing job. They were able to put together well-known scenes from Elf with modern, everyday situations in an Asda around Christmas.
Not all brands can afford to get the rights to feature Buddy the Elf in a Christmas campaign, but here are 10 Christmas marketing ideas that will work on a low budget.
Creating an advent calendar - this is a pretty simple thing to do. For the twelve days leading up to Christmas, you can have a post for each day building up anticipation for Christmas. It can be a giveaway, a tip, or just some engaging content.
Have a festive contest - Christmas is all about giving and receiving. It’s always a good idea to run a competition within your means where your audience can participate, and engage with your brand for a chance to win something.
Send a holiday greeting card with orders - including a greeting card in packages sent out during the holiday season is a very nice touch customers will appreciate.
Launch Christmas-specific packaging - like Starbucks, you could have Christmas packaging that will make a lasting impression on your customers and also spread that Christmas joy.

Run some Christmas-specific offers - you can have specific offers for the festive season to entice more sales and give back to your customers. You can even make a Christmas newsletter pop-up form on your website with Christmas branding and a discount for them if they sign up. This could increase your customer data and also drive more sales.
Make a Christmas gift guide - market your product as the perfect Christmas gift for customers family and friends.
Wish your customers and audience a merry Christmas! Even if you don’t do anything make sure you communicate with your customers on Christmas day or before and wish them a Merry Christmas, this can be done as a post on social media or an email.
It’s important to start Christmas marketing at the right time. If you haven’t started your Christmas marketing yet there’s still enough time to make something happen. Create a plan with specific goals. This could be to generate more sales, more traffic, or more leads. This will help you decide on your Christmas marketing efforts.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
