Happy New Week Everyone,
Last weekend I celebrated my 25th birthday. It was the first time I threw a party and probably my last for a while. Although planning it was very stressful it was worth every bit of stress. Life is short and it’s important we spend every chance we get celebrating, enjoying ourselves, and creating priceless memories.
Reminding yourself that you’re not going to be here forever helps you care more about how you spend your time and who you spend your time with.
Here are some quotes I love:
“Enjoy every moment you have. Because in life, there are no rewinds, only flashbacks.” – Anmol Andore
“As you grow older, you’ll find the only things you regret are the things you didn’t do.”– Zachary Scott
“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.” —Walter Hagen
“Waste your money and you’re only out of money, but waste your time and you’ve lost a part of your life.” – Michael Leboeuf
To celebrate life on a daily basis is a way to develop an “attitude of gratitude” that can literally transform our outlook on life and our ability to deeply enjoy what we already have. Any celebration, big or small, is really about taking some time out to notice the good things in your life.
Moments of celebration make us pause and be mindful, and that boosts our well-being. When we stop to savour the good things, we buffer ourselves against the bad and build resilience. The positive emotions surrounding celebrations make all the challenges life throws at us more bearable.
Celebrations are important because they;
1. Cultivate a sense of community: Special occasions are one of the best times to bond with your family and friends. Seeing your tribe make an effort to celebrate with you shows how much you are loved and appreciated.
2. Instill a sense of meaning and significance to our lives: Celebrating all our milestones serve an important purpose. It instills a sense of reverence and appreciation for the gift of life.
3. Create lasting memories: The human mind tends to recall memories that carry a high emotional charge to them. When we commemorate a special occasion, we are essentially placing a mental bookmark on an experience, which makes it easier to remember in the future. The photos, videos, and other forms of memorabilia from those occasions serve as triggers that we can use to relive those pleasant experiences in the future.
4. It adds fun and excitement to our lives: Celebrations can be incredibly fun and provide us with the perfect opportunity to engage in the joys of life such as dancing, singing, eating, playing, and laughing. The little kid within us still relishes in the excitement of an upcoming celebration and this is an emotion that we deserve to indulge in as adults as well.
To conclude, life is short, make sure to celebrate and have fun with it.
