Quiet Your Mind...

Happy New Week,
Recently, I’ve been appreciating silence a lot more. Today we are constantly bombarded with so much noise. That could be actual noise, notifications, or never-ending news updates. We rarely get to enjoy a moment of silence. Silence is golden and it’s one of the most underappreciated tools to improve productivity and wellness.
Here is why silence is golden:
1. Silence has physical benefits - it helps lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of strokes and heart attacks. It improves the body’s immune response and encourages new brain cell growth.
2. Silence has emotional benefits - making a conscious decision to take a break and disconnect from everything around you allows you to become more conscious about your emotional state. This means you can take steps to make sure you’re in the right mental space.
3. Silence breeds creativity - it allows your mind to wander which makes you a more creative person. When your brain isn’t distracted you can think deeply and come up with great ideas. Bill Gates takes two weeks out of every year away from technology and society in a cabin in the woods just to think in silence.
4. Silence creates self-awareness - relaxing in silence creates an opportunity for reflection. You allow your mind to process your thoughts, feelings and check in with itself. If there’s one thing we can likely all agree on is that life can be profoundly chaotic. Silence and reflection will help your thoughts and occurring threads in your life, getting you to a level of self-awareness that will help you heal from within. It will also help you be at more peace within yourself.
“To create you must quiet your mind. You need a quiet mind so that ideas will have a chance of connecting.”
— Eric Maisel
If we don’t quiet our minds we can’t hear ourselves think. All the answers we need are actually within us. If you give your mind time to process things you’ll soon find the answers you were looking for. Get into the habit of letting your mind rest. Put your phone down, do some deep breathing, go on a walk or just sit in silence for some time.
Carving time for silence and shutting out the noise creates the perfect environment for success. Success in your career endeavors, success in healing, and allowing yourself to flow creatively. When you unplug, disconnect, and indulge in the silence, there’s room for you to process your internal dialogue.
Have a great week everyone and remember silence is golden.
