Happy New Week everyone!
We’ve just wrapped up on a big project and as you know, I'm a big believer in teaching while learning, so I want to share my learnings about launching a website.
Launching a website can be stressful, designing it yourself is hard work then making sure people actually visit your website is another difficult task you have to face. Below I will share a few tips to ensure your website launch brings you real people that will enjoy your content.
Start marketing pre-launch- even though your site isn’t ready, this doesn’t mean you can’t start promoting it. You can create a landing page with a timer and subscription button to build excitement around your launch. Email marketing is a great way to build relationships with website visitors so make sure you have an email subscription form.
Get ready to capture data- to track and measure traffic to your website, install google analytics and add your site to Google Search Console. There is no point putting so much time and effort into promoting your site and you’re not able to track and measure how much traffic you’re getting and where those visitors are coming from. Google Search Console helps you manage the health of your site in the search engines. If there are any issues with your site, this is how Google will notify you.
Start working on your SEO- You have to make sure your site is search-friendly. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation, which is the process of increasing your site's visibility through search engines. Important elements of SEO are things such as:
keywords- words or phrases that someone will search into a search engine like Google when searching for information about a particular topic,
Title tags- spell out the purpose of each page on your site to search engines, the title should be written clearly to explain what the page is and encourage people to click.
Meta descriptions are summaries of your site that appear beneath the title tag on the search results page and help you convince potential visitors to click.
Internal links to point to other pages on your website. This helps search engines make navigation easier for users by showing them content relevant to their search.
4.Optimise for mobile- most of your traffic will come from mobile devices, so your website must be viewable and easy to find for people on the go. When designing a website because you’re designing from a desktop point of view, you need to remember that most people aren’t going to view it through their laptops. Things such as videos may not load so you might need to include an image for when it doesn’t.
5.Test everything- before putting your complete website out to the world, test everything! Make sure your links work, your site has good speed, page speed helps your ranking on Google searches, with long loading times consumers are less likely to buy from you, make sure all your forms work, make sure you know where all the signup information is going to and most importantly proofread your site! Make sure you have someone review everything and look out for any typos or grammatical errors.
6.Promote, promote, promote! Let the world know your website is now available for them to visit. You can do a launch campaign such as a giveaway or promo codes to drive as much traffic as you can to your website. Make sure your website link is shared across all your social media channels.
