Start As You Mean To Go On
Happy New Year Everyone!
Another year to try new things, make mistakes, and draw nearer to your goals. For me, rather than viewing 2021 as a life-changing year, I’m viewing it as the year I continue planting seeds, adding value, and working on becoming the best version of myself. If there’s one thing 2020 emphasised, it’s to make sure there’s always room to manoeuvre. Life isn’t a straight path, it’s full of twists and turns, so many unprepared situations will come your way. We just have to focus on things we can control and make the most out of the hands we’re dealt.
A question I continuously ask myself is “if not now then when?”. If you continue to wait until you’re ready you’ll be waiting for the rest of your life, there’s no better time than now. In last week's newsletter, I explained that you can’t get better unless you start. You can’t improve a product that hasn’t been created so get started, fail fast, and learn faster.
Be very intentional with this year, don’t just set goals that sound nice but set goals that are important to you. More importantly set objectives, reverse engineer your enormous goals to actionable steps, learn from those who have achieved the goals you want to achieve. Once you simplify your goals to small objectives this will make it easier and more achievable. Having big goals can be extremely daunting so it’s important to break them down.
3 KEY HABITS I AM CULTIVATING THIS YEAR:
Saying no - there is a lot of power in saying no, especially to things that don’t serve you. It’s very difficult saying no however it helps you to establish healthy boundaries and saves you from being in commitments that you will regret later.
Focusing on the few to get more - less really is more, busier doesn’t always mean better. By being able to focus on the few that bring the most results/benefits you can achieve more. This is known as the 80/20 rule.
Celebrate the small wins - the road to success is a long one without a definitive destination, there’s always more to achieve due to the abundance in the world. Celebrating the small wins reminds you that you are making progress which gives you more satisfaction and happiness on this journey.
3 KEYWORDS FOR THIS YEAR:
Commitment - sticking at it long enough to get lucky.
Focus - less is more, focus on things that move the needle.
Systems - to scale, simplify business processes, document, and continuously optimise.

AMAZING PEOPLE TO FOLLOW:
Focus on putting one foot in front of the other. Don’t overwhelm yourself with the big goals, you’ll surpass them before you know it if you just keep one foot in front of the other.
After reading this week's newsletter, I encourage all of you to execute each of your goals and do everything in your power to make them happen. Don’t leave any crumbs behind, do something for yourself this year that you’ll thank yourself for at the end of the year.
Here’s to a successful 2021!
