Stormzy Gets Even More Skin in the Game as Investor in Padel Social Club...
Unless you've been living under a rock, you’ll know that Stormzy is a huge padel enthusiast. His passion has now evolved from player to investor, taking his love for the sport to the next level...
Happy new week!
Fresh off the press - Stormzy has just announced that he is the latest investor and ambassador in the rapidly growing Padel Social Club. A premium community led padel organisation, building the UK’s largest premium padel community through pay-to-play courts and social spaces. With padel being a sport that Stormzy loves and has been very vocal about, this is a very natural, authentic and mutually beneficial partnership for both parties.
Padel is the latest sport taking over Europe, quickly gaining popularity. It is a racquet sport invented in the 1960s that combines elements of tennis and squash and is played on an enclosed court. According to a new study, an estimated 5,280 hours of padel are played by Britons every day.
“Padel isn’t just another sport – it’s got something that draws everyone in, whether you’re new to the game or already hooked, as I am,” Stormzy.
Padel social club operates a chain of padel courts in the UK, including locations in Earls Court, Babington House for Soho House members and two new locations at The O2 and Wandsworth set to open next year. The club is built around fostering a sense of community and enhancing the social aspect of the game. Their venues are popular with everyone from beginners to enthusiasts. As a members-only club, members pay a monthly fee for access to the courts and also enjoy food, drinks, and other social activities with friends before and after games.
“What really stood out to me about Padel Social Club is that they’re doing more than just building courts – they’re creating a community and bringing people together through the sport. That’s why I’m excited to be an investor and part of this journey. Big things are coming!” Stormzy.
Here’s why this partnership makes sense:
The numbers add up - Padel Social Club’s first dedicated space at Earl’s Court, which opened in February, has exceeded expectations, according to its CEO. PSC is now preparing to unveil its new courts at The O2 and open a six-court indoor club in Wandsworth by early summer 2025. The demand for padel clubs is skyrocketing and Stormzy’s financial injection will enable PSC to continue expanding. With padel's growing popularity, there's no doubt Stormzy will see a healthy return on his investment.
An authentic pairing - Stormzy genuinely loves and frequently plays padel, making this partnership a natural progression. By joining as an investor and ambassador, Stormzy amplifies the club’s mission to popularise the sport and foster a vibrant community around it. Given his passion and personal investment, PSC can expect significant contributions from Stormzy to promote the sport.
Winning combination - Padel Social Club focuses on the social aspect of the game and aims to become a premium lifestyle brand, not only having state-of-the-art courts, but offering curated food and drink menus, comfortable spaces to relax or work, and an inclusive atmosphere encouraging connections on and off the court. PSC is committed to broadening access to the game, and Stormzy, who advocates for diversity and access for disadvantaged communities, is the perfect partner to help achieve this mission.
“Having Stormzy invest in Padel Social Club is a huge moment for us. He’s built a reputation in music, sport, and business, but most importantly he shares our passion for community. Together, we’ll take padel to new heights in the UK.” Kristian Hunter, CEO of Padel Social Club
Stormzy's investment makes him the latest celebrity to back the world’s fastest-growing sport, joining the ranks of David Beckham, Charles Leclerc, Eva Longoria, Lionel Messi, and Serena Williams. This is another power move from Stormzy, although he’s well-known for his music, he’s also an avid sports fan with a growing sports investment portfolio. He co-owns Croydon Athletic with ex-Crystal Palace footballer Wilfried Zaha and partnered with Adidas on the Merky FC initiative, a football centre and community hub, providing a safe space and opportunities for young people.
Let me leave you with this little gem - here’s Stormzy being pranked by Youtuber, Niko Omilana to play undercover British padel star Nikhil Mohindra as part of his latest challenge video.
Have a great week!
