Hi all,
I don’t know about you but with everything going on, I'm not really feeling the festive spirit. Although it's not as festive as we would like it to be, you can still use the festive season as an opportunity to market to your customers. You should have already started your festive marketing but if you haven’t, don’t worry it's better late than ever!
Below are a few marketing examples you can use:
Get In Your Christmas Branding Bag
Start tailoring your content to suit the festive season by using Christmas colours and putting together Christmas related content. You can adjust your logo, social media profile pictures, or header to include some Christmas elements. This can be used on your website, social media accounts, online stores, email marketing campaigns, or any holiday Christmas cards you send.
You can change your website to be more festive, make your landing page look more joyous, introduce a Christmas pop up which could include a lead magnet such as “enter your email address to get a Christmas present”, this could be a 10% discount, free shipping, etc. Remember, always capture customer emails!!
Step Your Christmas Content Marketing Game Up
Get creative, do something other brands aren’t doing. Run some fun holiday-themed contests, reward your customers. Be innovative and make sure your audience is having fun whilst at it. It is a bit late but my favourite festive marketing is a countdown to Christmas, Twelve days to Christmas giveaway. A reward for a different member of your community on the 12 days leading up to Christmas. This is a nice way to thank your customers for being with you this year.
Give Your Customers A Reason To Smile
Send a marketing email wishing all your customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, showing them that you care. Offer Christmas add ons such as gift wrapping services, if your products can be packaged into gift boxes then do so. Give customers the option to buy your products and have them packaged, gift-wrapped, and sent to their loved ones. Have curated Christmas gifts and bundle offers that can entice customers to purchase. If you are running any sales or campaigns during this period make sure it is Christmas-themed.
Do Something Nice For Others
Do a charity initiative, It’s always nice when brands do genuine charity acts during the festive season especially when it aligns with the brand’s values and mission. This could be giving to a local food bank, giving food or clothes to the homeless, donating some money to a homeless shelter or organisation. You can also give your customers the opportunity to give back during this Christmas season by buying from you and a percentage of your sales will be donated to a charity.
Show Your Audience Gratitude
End the year with a nice thank you message to your community and customers. Say something meaningful from your heart, especially with the type of year we’ve had. Some of you may have brands that don’t have a face to them, you can always do a graphic with some words and then a meaningful caption. It’s always good for your customers to see the human side of your brand.
The festive marketing doesn’t just stop at Christmas, don't forget there’s boxing day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. You might think it’s a bit late to start but like I said it’s better late than never and these are also things you can carry out next year too, give yourself a head start, prepare from November and execute in December.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas in advance!
