Win Your Week...
With outside being open again, life has become extremely busy for me, here's how I ensure I'm winning my weeks and getting the most out of my time.
Happy New Week Everyone!
Recently my days and weeks have become a combined mess. When there’s a lot to do, it’s hard to stay in control of my time. It’s important not to be carried away by the wind and make sure you’re winning your week. Here’s what I've started doing in order to ensure I'm back to winning my weeks.
Have a weekly game plan - it’s so important to know what you want to get out of your week. You can’t win your week if you don’t know what a win looks like. Start your week with intentionality and clarity by having a set goal or vision for your week. Decide what needs to get done this week, any deadlines to meet, any meetings to have, etc.
Win the days then win the weeks - weeks are made up of days, it’s important to focus on the small things as they add up to the bigger ones. Try and make each day count by maximising and managing your time wisely. Be intentional about planning your days by linking each day to the bigger picture. Set certain days for certain tasks that will take you closer to your goal.
Focus on the 3 tasks that will move the needle - a lot of the time we overwhelm ourselves with long to-do lists and tasks that are unnecessary. If you spread yourself too thin you’ll end up accomplishing very little. Focusing on the 3 important tasks will give you enough capacity to go deep and accomplish your tasks to a high standard. Make sure the 3 tasks you’re focusing on actually draw you nearer to your goals, so constantly ask yourself if what you’re doing will take you closer or further from your goal.
Write things down - I have always been an advocate for writing things down, whether that's in my Hustle Smart planner or journal. I was advised to start using post-stick notes to write down tasks I need to do, goals, or just ideas I have. This has been a helpful trick as now I free myself from having to remember a thousand and one things and seeing it constantly keeps my goals and tasks top of mind.
Reflect on your days and weeks - at the end of each day reflect on what you enjoyed doing, whether you achieved what you set out to achieve, and if you are any closer to achieving your goals. When reviewing and reflecting you might even notice you are much closer to achieving your goals than you thought.
To conclude, not all productive days or weeks look the same. One day a productive day might look like 4 deep work sessions, another day it might look like 3 client calls, another day could just be not doing much to let your brain breathe and recharge. Don’t be too harsh on yourself, focus on what’s in front of you, be intentional and take action. Before you know it, you will be achieving more than you could imagine.
Have a great week everyone!
