You Don't Need Any Permission
Constantly learning and evolving, here's three things I learnt from hosting my first masterclass on Saturday..
Hi Everyone,
Hope you all are having a restful bank holiday weekend.
Thank you to everyone who attended my first masterclass, it was a great success and experience.
I want to share a few learnings and encourage anyone who has specific knowledge that most don’t to step out of their comfort zone and start teaching.
I started this newsletter to learn through teaching. Teaching is a great way to continuously learn and sharpen your skills.
Here are three things I’ve learnt:
Don't be afraid to promote yourself
A lot of the time you’re afraid of promoting yourself because you think you’re selling yourself. Once you’ve found your tribe, the people whose problem you solve, you’re not selling you’re solving. For example, my branding and marketing masterclass, a lot of businesses struggle to market themselves so I’m providing them a solution. I can't be afraid to promote myself as the people struggling need to know that there’s a solution for them!
I saw a great quote that says “McDonalds’ is still advertising and their first franchise opened in 1955”. On average people need to see a message at least 6 times before it sticks. Don’t let the fear of “embarrassment” or imposter syndrome hold you back from promoting yourself. You’re solving a problem for someone!
The world needs you, your knowledge, your service, and your products.
Focus on impact rather than numbers
Don’t measure your success with the number of people that showed up or bought your product. Measure your success by the number of people you’ve impacted. The number of people that have been inspired or learnt something new.
You don't need any permission
Sometimes we wait for permission to take action or to live up to our full potential. No one is going to give you permission, the universe isn’t either. You have to take it upon yourself and make a commitment to be your very best self. Steve Jobs said “Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it… Once you learn that, you'll never be the same again.” Since I learnt this simple fact, I have not been the same person. My parents always used to say “this person doesn’t have two heads'' and they don't. It’s in you, you’re already that person, tap into it.
Feel the fear and do it anyway. You never want to regret not trying something, what’s the worst that could happen? The pain of regrets hurts way more than the pain of failing.
I hope this inspires someone to step out of their comfort zone and start putting themselves out there.
Wishing you all a great week.
